Well Feeders….this has been one hell of a lead up!

True Blood has definitely become one of those shows that I can NOT be interrupted while watching.  My fangs really run out and it just ends in a bloody, unhappy mess.  And while Sundays’ episode of True Blood didn’t end QUITE as bloody as I was expecting, it was still very bloody.  So…True Blood Season 4 Episode 2.  Right.

So Tara is back and is all caught up in the drama…again.  Lafayette gets pulled into a dangerous game against Eric….again.  Bill is lying and keeping secrets….again.  Sookie is torn and is being all holier than tho…again.

First off, I am sad for Tara.  She’s a bad ass and came back to see her BFF after thinking she was dead for the past year.  And said BFF runs right out the door, after finding a Eric’s hidey-hole cupboard.  So Tara heads over to hang out with Lafayette and Jesus.  Who promptly run out to a witchy meeting where Tara is once again attacked by a vampire.

Sookie discovers that Bill is the King and we get a set of delightful flashbacks.  Bill agreeing to be a spy and then lying to protect Sookie (who, incidently, he doesn’t yet know is missing.  Wonder what he’d have done if he’d known she was missing?) and of course his altercation with Sophie-Ann.  Glad they didn’t drag that out but they seriously butchered the story line of 2 of the books right there.  Unless she’s not dead.  And of course, this eliminates the Quinn storyline.  And I’ll just say now that I’m a huge Quinn fan.  Deal with it.

Has anyone else noticed how sexy this season is so far?  We’ve seen Bill railing the witch-chick (which was tame, compared to the fun he and Sookie have had), we’ve seen Tara’s lady love all draped over Tara’s scantily clad body, Luna has already been stretched out naked with Sam who spends most of the episode at least shirtless and Crystal drops trau by the end of the episode!  Phew!  This is one hot season!

Lets touch on Sam here for a minute….I love the idea of him hooking up with a fellow shifter and working his drama out with Tommy (even tho you just KNOW that’s gonna come back to bite Sam in the ass….) but who is this hard ass?  I don’t like this cranky grump!  Is it time for Sam to do the no pants dance or what?  My heart simply melted when I saw the flash of the old Sam with Sookie.  I like the Sam from the books.  He’s not a push over but he’s not a straight up beast either.  He’s the kinda man I’d totally hook up with.  I adore the bad boy traits of Eric and love Bills’ antiquated manners but Sam is the kinda guy I’d wanna have over for coffee more than once.

I’m interested to see where the Luna story line goes.  Her story…damn, that was heavy.  She seems like a great fit for Sam but I’m curious to see where Tommy is going to play into all this.  Coz you know you can’t trust that “I wanna be brothers” BS he was spewing.  Oh, and I absolutely love that Luna is Native American on one side but, despite the name, shifts into a horse readily.  Makes hearts smile.

Man oh man is Jessica screwed.  Clearly, it’s going to take a lot longer to drive to Shreveport than to get Hoyt his Advil.  And when she was sitting at that intersection, she made the choice to go to Fangtasia.  It makes me sad, it really does, that Hoyt just lets his mouth run.  Who does he think he is, Jason Stackhouse??  And even Jason has learned to watch his mouth.  I get Hoyt’s issues, I really do.  He’s human and he wants to BE human.  But geez man.  Pick your words!  And this is a lotta drama outta that household in just the first two episodes!  Wanna toss a shout-out to the wardrobe people for Deborah Ann Woll.  They are doing a fantastic job!  The costume tones against her skin just make her GLOW.  And I love that taking her hair down releases her from her struggles.  When she’s with Hoyt, she has to be one way but when she’s a vampire she’s something different.  Her use of hairstyle really captures that.  I did really enjoy the interaction between Pam and Jessica as they let Hoyt get the shit beat out of him.

I suppose I should cover the vampire in the room….Eric.  WTF is he thinking?  First he ASKS Sookie to let him claim her which totally looses him man points but then he attacks Tara when he’s trying to show off his bad ass-ness.  And did that ever backfire!  Now he’s running down the road (which, just out of curiosity, I’ve been wondering where he lost his shirt?  Not that I’m complaining….) and has no idea where or who he is.  And of course Sookie finds him.  Coz that makes perfect sense.  I really wanna see them tie up the story with whoever was shifting into Marnie.  One thing this show has enough of is characters.  And I definitely don’t wanna see any of that bullshit story from Angel, with the gypsy curse.  Alan Ball certainly has thrown in enough creativity that I suppose it would be ok if he borrowed from another vampire show, but I’d hate to see him travel down that road.  If you can lose your soul once, your humans are going to spend a whole series trying to keep you from being a crazed killer
